For instance, if you have a non-dependant living with you, for example, an adult son or daughter, a charge is applied to your Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit called a nondependant deduction which reduces the amount you are allowed.
These charges normally increase every April. However, in April 2011 the government increased them by higher amounts than in previous years. They stated that this was because the deductions had not increased as much as they should over recent years and the larger increases were bringing them up to what they should have been.
The minimum reduction will be £9.40 and the maximum will be £60.60. If you have any queries please contact your Welfare Benefit Officer at Radian.
